Private (guest) visa is issued for a period no longer than 90 days and is valid for single and double entry. 

 

  1. Visa application form

It must be filled out online and printed out double-sided from PDF format. One per person. No blank spaces must be left. If a question does not apply, please type "N/A". If the answer is none, write "None". Kindly ensure that the dates of your entry and exit, as entered in the application form, match with or fall within the period specified in the supporting documents. The form should bear the original signature of applicant made in person in front of the Consulate's representative. Application form of children under 18 must be signed by one of the parents (birth certificate should be presented). Incomplete forms, forms without signature, forms with corrections will be returned to the applicants unprocessed. Please choose "Consulate General of the Russian Federation" from dropdown menu as the place of submission.

 

  1. One photograph 

size: 3.5 by 4.5 cm, less than 6 months old, in colour, with a light background. The photo must be glued (not stapled or attached using adhesive tape) on the form strictly at reserved place. 

 

  1. Passport 

or other travel document recognized as such in the Russian Federation with at least 2 blank pages for visas. The passport should be submitted in original only and should be valid for at least 6 months after planned departure date from Russia.

 

  1. Letter of invitation

In original. In urgent cases a copy of good quality is accepted. The letter is issued by local migration office of the Internal Ministry of the Russian Federation either in paper form or in electronic form (received directly by the Consulate). In case of urgent medical treatment in Russia or visiting seriously ill or deceased relative, an applicant can submit instead of the invitation a certificate issued by a medical institution or a death certificate and a document proving the kindred between the applicant and the ill or deceased relative.

 

Please note! If the applicant is not an Australian citizen, you must additionally provide: A Visa Grant Notice proving that you can stay in Australia longer than 90 days without leaving the country. Depending on national legislation, documentary evidence of continuous stay in Australia for more than 90 days may be a student or work visa, work permit, temporary residence permit, temporary residence permit. Other documents, such as insurance policy, may also be required.

 

Private visa for close relatives

Close relatives of a Russian citizen who are foreign citizens:

  1. spouse;
  2. parents or adoptive parents;
  3. children, including adopted children;
  4. spouses of children;
  5. full and half brothers and sisters;
  6. grandparents;
  7. grandchildren, —

based on written request of a Russian citizen, an ordinary private visa to Russia can be issued.

Such visa can be single-entry or double-entry for the period of 90 days, or multi entry for the period of 365 days.

Please note:

If close relatives of a Russian citizen who are foreign citizens but also have Russian citizenship, they must enter Russia with their Russian passports. Obtaining Russian visas for foreign passports by Russian citizens is prohibited.

The following are not considered as close relatives of a Russian citizen (in the sense of Russian visa legislation):

  • cohabitants who have not registered an official marriage;
  • children of a spouse - a foreign citizen from a previous marriage, who are not members of the applicant's family – a Russian citizen.

In order to apply for a visa for close relatives, a Russian citizen must submit the following documents:

  1. Application for entry into the Russian Federation, containing the information required for a visa (surname, name, patronymic, date of birth, citizenship, gender, passport number, registration address and address of the actual place of residence of a Russian citizen (in case of residence in the territory of the Russian Federation) , as well as surname, first name, other names, date of birth, citizenship, gender, passport number, multiplicity of visa, purpose of travel, requested period of stay, place of intended residence of the person applying for a visa and cities planned to visit), signed by the applicant (Russian citizen) personally at the Consulate General  or certified by a notary on the territory of the Russian Federation.

  2. A valid foreign passport of a citizen of the Russian Federation and its copy (page with a photo and personal data) for Russian citizens signing an application in Australia, or a copy of the "internal" passport of a citizen of the Russian Federation for Russian citizens certifying the application with a notary in the Russian Federation
  3. Documents confirming relationship with a foreign citizen:

    • for spouses: a Russian marriage certificate or an extract from the State or Territory Registry of Births, Deaths and Marriages in Australia for a Russian citizen applying for a visa to a spouse who is a foreign citizen, or for a foreign citizen who is applying for a visa, containing information about the spouse (name, case/file number), as well as the date of marriage registration.

    • for children, parents, brothers and sisters, grandparents, grandchildren: child’s Russian birth certificate, or an extract from the State or Territory Registry of Births, Deaths and Marriages in Australia in relation to the child, containing information about the name of the child, the date and place of birth, as well as information about parents (mother, father, their names, case/file number), which confirms relationship with Russian citizen.
    • for children’s spouses: a Russian birth certificate or an extract from the State or Territory Registry of Births, Deaths and Marriages in Australia in relation to the son or daughter of a Russian citizen, containing information about the name of the son or daughter, the date and place of his/her birth, parents (mother, father, their names, case/file number), as well as a Russian marriage certificate or an extract from the State or Territory Registry of Births, Deaths and Marriages in Australia in relation to the son or daughter of a Russian citizen applying for a visa to his spouse son or daughter - to a foreign citizen, or in relation to a foreign citizen who is issued a visa containing information about the spouse (name, case/file number), as well as the date of registration of the marriage. If you are simultaneously applying for a Russian visa for a spouse and children, an extract from the State or Territory Registry of Births, Deaths and Marriages in Australia may be submitted in respect of a Russian citizen applying for a visa, which contains information about the spouse and children.

      If you are simultaneously applying for a Russian visa for spouse and children, an extract from the State or Territory Registry of Births, Deaths and Marriages in Australia may be submitted in regard to Russian citizen applying for a visa, which contains information about the spouse and children.

      ATTENTION!!!

      When submitting an application, Russian citizen must present original documents confirming relationship with a foreign citizen. Copies are made from the originals; the originals are returned to the Russian citizen.

      When a Russian citizen draws up an application through a notary in the Russian Federation, the applicant submits notarized copies of documents notarized in Russia, confirming relationship of Russian citizen with foreign citizen. Copies are made from the notarized copies; the notarized copies are returned to the applicant.

      An extract from the State or Territory Registry of Birth, Death and Marriages in Australia must be apostilled. Documents obtained from Australian departments do not need to be translated into Russian language.

      Documents not drawn up in English or Russian and obtained from any other counties must be translated into English or Russian language by an authorized translator and certified.

  4. A valid passport of foreign citizen with at least 2 blank pages for visas, valid for 6 months from the date of expiry of the visa.
  5. Visa application form filled out on the website visa.kdmid.ru, printed and signed by the applicant personally at the Consulate General.
  6. A medical insurance policy with an amount of coverage for medical services of at least 30,000 euros or an equivalent amount in another currency, valid for the entire period of the intended trip to the Russian Federation (for citizens of Austria, Australia, Belgium, Bulgaria, Hungary, Greece, Denmark, Israel, Ireland, Iceland, Spain, Italy, Cyprus, Latvia, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Malta, the Netherlands, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Slovakia, Slovenia, Germany, Finland, France, Czech Republic, Sweden, Switzerland, Estonia). When requesting a multiple-entry visa insurance policy should be valid for the period of first entry. If a multi-entry visa is requested, an insurance certificate must be presented by citizens of any constry.
  7. One passport size (3.5 x 4.5 cm) clear photo in colour taken full-face directly facing the camera and against a plain white or light-coloured background. Only non-tinted prescription glasses and head covering worn daily for a religious purpose or as a part of national costume (in this case the same head covering must be worn in the passport photo) are allowed. 

 

       Visa fee payment

Single entry: 120 AUD or 240 AUD (express, if applicable).

Double entry : 192 AUD or 384 AUD (express, if applicable).

Multi entry: 360 AUD or 720 AUD (express, if applicable).

Payment is made at the Consulate by card during the application process.
